Good morning all & OTD in 1509, the Portuguese Empire's fleet destroyed the joint fleet of the Sultan of Gujarat, the Mamluk Sultanate of Egypt, the ruler of Calicut (supported by the Ottomans & Venice!). The Portuguese victory was followed by more Indian Ocean port victories.
