I start out creating various monochromatic compositions which I then experiment with over and over until finding a composition I like. I look at wildlife photos of pelagic fish as well as paintings by the amazing artist Stanley Meltzoff for inspiration.

Back in early spring, I made a bunch of bird nest illustrations. Just drawing them was a lot of work - it's baffling birds build these things with no tools! Here's blackbird, hooded crow, robin and black-headed gull.
