The basic stylings for the GB art came from a magazine cover for a sports title I'd created a year earlier.
The GB cover was made in a day and a half (maybe even a day) because I was running late, I had to drop a more complex idea, sometimes simplicity & composition win the day!
#5: Paul Schrader's "First Reformed" is a chilling look at environmentalism & religion. It's a grim & oppressive film with some really stunning image compositions. The story is very original. This is Ethan Hawke's best performance. Brilliant. 9/10

We're going to the dark side for #PFPrompt3 ... Fallen heroes. Thinking of a backstory can help shape the artwork's composition - do they enjoy their newfound power? Do they fear it? Elements of story can come through in an illustration via pose and expression.
Composition Principles:
1. Rule of Thirds - I put the boat as the main focus of this artwork so I put it in one of the intersections of the grid

Such great use of bounced and reflected light. It's not screaming for attention either. The artist isn't saying "LOOK AT MY HIGHLY ACADEMIC UNDERSTANDING OF LIGHT." Instead it provides additional support for the believability of the entire composition.
So here's a bit of the process I use for "realistic" paintings (I don't do really often and realism is debatable here).
You can see the first skech with color, a bit more detailed composition, me having an eye crisis and last is how it's currently looking.

Feather patterns + Alt patterns nearing completion 👀👀 Time to line the final ref sketch and composition and then coloring and shading! We're finally getting there fellas!
