pop art style seems to have less emphasis on the nose + prefers stylized eyes. With the preference for flatter lighter color+shade+bloom filter, it doesn't help to make the impression of flatter "softer" art style

seeing the whole junjy ito uzumaki adaptation shitting on the OG manga, it makes me wonder why most modern animu is so watered down in terms of art style (talking about the gorey horror ones)
even the so called "gorey" shows feels like a child show compared to 80s gnarly style

tbh I was dissatisfied with my art style, I don't wanna draw moe "cute" characters or bishies. I wanna draw the rough gekiga 80s/90s style, so I switched references to kaneko's artwork
it's funny that the perception of late 80s/90s animu goes from "hyperviolent tentacle gorep0rn" to "le wholesome a e s t h e t i c nostalgia vaporwave anime where everyone looks like Ikuko Itoh's characters"
try google 90s anime art style and it'll net Ikuko Itoh's designs
