Greetings all! Fellow writer here! Tell me your story!
Me? Querying first historical fiction mss, THE WIND IS OUR FRIEND, SOMETIMES, an adventure/romance based on a true shipwreck off the Australian coast in 1878.
(Photo is Ivan Aivazovsky’s “Sunset. A Lone Sailboat.” 1853)
#Aivazovsky’s romantic seascapes used the motif of stormy seas to reflect the turbulent times in Russia, Italy or Greece. He did not #overturn all ships but his most famous ‘The Ninth Wave’ (1st pic) depicts the sailors awaiting their fate. My fav is the last of Sounion #vss365
@GuyLongworth Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky’s Ship on Stormy Seas or Constantinople - can’t pick only one!
The Ninth Wave is probably Aivazovsky’s most famous and popular work. Originally acquired for the Imperial Hermitage, it was one of the first paintings in the collection of the Emperor Alexander III Russian Museum in 1897. @rus_museum
