This painting had perishing varnish, areas of flaking paint & a tear. Our team performed treatments to resolve these and stabilise the piece. The original colours are shunning.

Retouching the losses on this oil painting is going well - for lighter colours this needs to be completed gradually, building the layers up so the retouched area blends seamlessly with the original paint

A varnish is often applied as a protective coating. The key to removing incompatible varnishes on a is to ensure the solvent does no harm to the original paint layers.
