day 1 for #avianaugust, an Eastern Towhee!
bird fax: like meadowlarks, towhees are subject to a lot of taxonomic debate! The "rufous-sided towhee" was split into two species, the spotted & eastern towhee. Unlike the "yellow-breasted" meadowlarks tho, they will often interbreed!
Happy first day of #AvianAugust! Gonna be doing potential pin/sticker designs for all the listed birds! I'll try to include male/female + maybe fun color morphs as well!
