A Touhou OC of mine, Mushin Raku (無神 楽公)
Her design is based on Jomon-era dress and the concept of Emptiness in Zen Buddhism. Her goal is to create a realm sealed away and empty of magic and gods, despite being a deified human technically. Invisible and abhorrent to youkai.

I had a fun time appreciating all these design elements. Although this style may not be familiar for western audience, they actually all go well together.
For me, to drive this style home, the most fitting pose is of course derived from the Nio (temple guardian) buddhism statues.

The body ornaments and the elaborate hair bun reminds me of various buddhism sculptures and paintings from the Tang dynasty.
Lots of such sculptures are found along the silk road (especially Dunhuang), which are dessert areas (west of China). Super fitting for the Gerudo dessert.

Hey, I'm Rev. Enrico, a 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈♠️ Buddhist reverend who likes to draw, make music, and play hockey in my free time.

I am currently starting a new comic about my transition and what I experienced with a narcissistic mother who didn't support me.
Bonus pic of my fursuit.

3.Luo Ji 螺髻

Luo Ji was originally a Buddhist hair bun, but later people began to imitate the characteristics of this hairstyle.

Because the shape is similar to a conch shell, so it was named Luo Ji.

Luo Ji can be divided into single Luo Ji 单螺髻 and double Luo Ji 双螺髻.

Gm friends. Both menacing and fun. I love this type of visual paradox in art. In some schools of Tibetan Buddhism the archetype of a great sage is not limited to a serene, peaceful and pious monk. There are also stories of beings behaving in crazy ways blurring the boundary… https://t.co/CCnXoJxJFQ

Ryu, an ai of Silver, is based off of ryūō dragons. They’re dragon kings that gave up being evil and now follow the teachings of Buddhism. Humans can reach spiritual enlightenment learning from them.

*During the Joseon Dynasty, blind people were thought to be able to convey the sound of the earth and sky clearly, and they were even hired as 'dokgyeongsa' to read the Buddhist scriptures.

Daikokuten’s Attendants

Originating from the Buddhist version of Shiva & conflated with the Shinto god Okuninushi, Daikokuten is a god of fortune & wealth.

His mice come from being associated with the northern direction, which corresponds to the Rat in the Chinese Zodiac.
