The city of Berlin engulfed in chaos, reflects hell itself with flames illuminating the night sky through thick smoke.
"This city... it's a nightmare," Erika murmurs, her voice a mix of determination and despair. "But we can't falter now."

The sun rose over war-torn Berlin, where German and Soviet troops clashed in a relentless battle.
Erika, exhausted yet determined, brewed coffee and paused to reflect on when the fighting would end.
"When will this nightmare be over?" she murmured.

Erika served in civil air defense for years. During the Battle of Berlin, she joined the Greifkommando as a medical volunteer, Amidst chaos, Erika relentlessly worked to save lives, yet her efforts felt minuscule compared to the atrocities committed by her comrade

"Where are you off to, Erika?" Johanna inquired.
"To the keeper's home," she answered. "I must bid farewell to the shoebill before we move on."
In the midst of the Battle of Berlin, Erika meets the shoebill again.

In her BDM uniform, Erika bears reminders of her past, her medpack. Yet, it's the camouflaged parka, a gift from Johanna seized from a deserter, that catches the eye

Clutching her teeth, she wrestled with the idea of fighting to the end.
"I want to live"
she murmured through tears, unsure of her fate as the Soviets approached Berlin's liberation.
