This one from a private collection is my favourite William Prinsep painting. A brilliant, uber-realistic depiction of a powerful Norwester or Kalboishakhi on the #Hooghly in #Calcutta. The painting is from 1819-21.

interesting to note: in those days spread of movement of people. she was born, later lived in Lahore & Delhi, travelled to Kanpur, Lucknow to Calcutta. late she opened school in Lucknow, in old age died at Gaziabad, lived in anonymity
