The battle of Camperdown (Zeeslag bij Kamperduin) was fought 1797. The British fleet defeated the Batavian Navy (the Dutch were allied of Revolutionary France).
In 1801 Philippe-Jacques de Loutherbourg RA painted the flagship ‘Vryheid’ at the moment of her surrender.
