1. Jelling in Jutland is the home of a age monument central to Denmark’s national identity. The site comprises two mounds either side a church and two rune stones. These structures sit within a 354m long ship-setting of stones which in turn is enclosed by 4km of palisade.

Here’s Queen Louise of Denmark’s green ball gown from the 1860s. She became Queen Consort in 1863 at the age of 46 so this dress must either be before or at the beginning of her reign. It looks youthful, but I’m sure she wasn’t concerned with 😉 fashionhistory
