Theres an arc in this series where shit goes fuckin bonkers and made me really respect Escaflowne.

It gets melodramatic and the multiple romances can get a bit exhausting but its got great ideas and the characters and animation have some fun motivations.

Its lovely fantasy.

I have a thing for knight mechas, Didn't knew Ryu Paladyn Zephyr (Hao Taikei Ryu Knight) but reminded me of Escaflowne. The arms were quite short, but the sword is pretty nice.

Yes, it’s technically Shojo, but so are Natsume and Escaflowne. Its quality and nature make it more deserving of a wider audience.
