Under #Communism, #Hungary officially abolished #Christmas. Its replacement was #Fenyőünnep, the Pine Festival, a de-Christianised holiday focused on the tree. Fenyőünnep was policed strictly to begin with but privately people celebrated much as before. It was abandoned in 1988.
