Happy #FishFriday! Spot the lie about the adorable googly-eyed Blue-spotted Mudskipper:
Spend 90% of their time on land.
Unlike other fish, they can blink.
Fantastic leaping displays to show off.
French hopscotch champion 2014.
Answer and awesome video in the thread!
How do fish ride bikes? For #FishFriday, I asked my fish friends. Only about 10% flop their tail over the handlebars. Most fish prefer tail sailing behind, rudder-like. Alma here demonstrates on her little trike. Can’t operate the pedals anyway, she's propelled by the current.
It's #FishFriday, so I'll warn you that in a dank corner of the lobby of your haunted seaside hotel, Mr. Fishsticks is waiting patiently for your arrival, sitting in a creepy crab chair. Dim light casts depressing shadows on the fishbone wallpaper from last week's #FishFriday
Thought we were done, but so many fish were bitter they didn’t get a role in the #FishFriday alphabet I’ll have to do some digits. Yes, seahorse are fish! They can be any color, blending in. For the 4, I feature lingcod, only the luckiest 15-20% of which are turquoise. Truth!
New #fishfriends @Dannyboi407 @formikessake joined in #fishFriday fun last week and challenged me to make a Crappie consonant. The big challenge is that it’s a fat shape, letter shapes are made of strokes and curves. Here’s both Black Crappie & White Crappie as letter V/thread:
This #FishFriday, I’m still recovering from a nasty case of Covid. I did make a fish though and deposited her in an old drawing of a chair. White Sturgeon, a west coast fish, grows upwards of half a ton. Plenty of cool barbels and spiky things. Info in thread!
Not a very happy #FishFriday, I have been quite sick with Covid for several days, miserable. Finally caught me, thank goodness I am vax'd and have had both boosters, I have other underlying conditions. Well enough to get in the art studio this afternoon for a couple hours.
It’s Fish Friday! Ron Jobson’s brilliant still life painting of Three Mackerel. Currently being showcased at our local and Familiar Exhibition. https://t.co/1LHgOUmWNn #FishFriday #buyart
I know there’s lots going on, but it’s also Eel’s birthday this #FishFriday and she got a cupcake, a small happiness in this world. #kidlit #kidlitart tiny surprise in the thread, same as last week…
Here’s your #FishFriday reminder to share your chair with a friend. Children and fish do not occupy chairs like adult humans. #Kidlitart #Kidlit small surprises in the thread:
Coy fish. Sorry, not sorry, but mostly not sorry, puns make the world go ‘round. For #FishFriday, it’s usually a fish in a chair. I like this one, may print greeting cards. Maybe she'll be holding a fan. Why am I wasting my time on these? Why am I on Twitter? I have no answers.
This week, for #FishFriday, it feels right to feature the Widow Rockfish. She looks harmless enough, but that dorsal fin can put you in a world of hurt. Cross her at your peril. I stole the bamboo rocking chair from another character in my current #kidlit WIP.
Often for #fishfriday I showcase the day’s fish supported on furniture, because I like to draw chairs as well as fish. But I do realize that not all fish sit upright, especially the one in this mood piece. Sometimes fish just gotta flop.
It's still #FishFriday here on the west coast. Things seem extra crazy, I hope you all get a chance to relax and enjoy yourselves over the weekend. And keep that thought that today & every day is Earth Day, when we love and respect our planet, inhabitants, ecosystems. 🐟🐠🌎🌍🌏
For #FishFriday, here's Mr. Swordfish, captivated by his ugly mermaid doll. ProTip: Never use really wretchedly bad watercolor paper, even this crappiest of warmup sketches deserved better than that. It made me want to stab something, fortunately, I had a handy swordfish.
Happy #FishFriday! Today I am celebrating the #kidlit community by recycling some bookish fish I made for my #SCBWI San Diego Chapter newsletter. Share your books with fish that don't have them, or let an eel read over your shoulder.

Almost forgot to post something for #FishFriday because I am rushing to finish something. So I had to laugh at myself when I saw this in the pile of warm-up fish drawings. Get your scooter on!
