'Retrato de una joven' (1896) El cuadro fue pintado en Tahití y muestra a una chica francesa, Jeanne Goupil, hija del abogado Auguste Goupil, que se había establecido con su familia cerca de Papeete. Vaïte era su nombre tahitiano, su padre le había encargado el retrato a Gauguin.
