Does anyone have a mantra they tell themselves while drawing/painting to keep them on track? Atm mine is “Plane change = Value change” when rendering form ✏️🤔 I think I got this one from Steve Huston. Would love to hear others!

One of my artistic influences is Steve Huston. On a surface level he draws some pretty good asses but there's so much internal knowledge that shows through in his charcoal renderings. Also I like how simple his charcoal technique is and how his line qualities are.

A matte painting by Yusei Uesugi -ILM- was also essential in this sequence. It was the basic bottomless pit shot, looking down the side of an enormous rock cliff that just goes on and on into darkness. The feet and the rock on the frame were miniatures built by Paul Huston.
