Cailleach’s Stag £8 + postage - Here depicted is a proud stag and the Cailleach’s symbols of snow.
Known also as winter Goddess, she rules from Samhain to Imbolc, when she sleeps and Brigid stirs the land with her warmth.

February 1st is the Feast day of St. Brigid (Bridget) of Kildare. The Abbess who shares her name with the Celtic Goddess. Traditionally, it was the feast of Imbolc, the first day of spring. St.Bridgit's cross was the symbol of Ireland's national broadcaster RTÉ

Here's the final rendition of my livestream piece from yesterday, "Await". Yesterday was Imbolc, so I thought I'd dedicate something to the passage of midwinter, and the coming spring. Looking forward to the return of green!

New month, new beginnings! Today marks Imbolc, the pagan holiday that celebrates the coming spring. This is the time for cleaning and fresh slates, and for me, new endeavors. I'm reviving my Redbubble shop with two new designs: https://t.co/TDmsKqtI9c

Thig an nathair as an toll
Là donn Brìde,
Ged robh trì troighean dhen t-sneachd
Air leac an làir.

“The serpent will come from the hole
On the brown Day of Bríde,
Though there should be three feet of snow
On the flat surface of the ground.”

Happy Imbolc, everyone.

Irish Brigid of Kildare (451-525), may be a Christianized version of Celtic Brigit. Her Feast Day ( Lá Fhéile Bríde), is held on Feb. 1st, the same day as Imbolc, a Pagan festival marking the beginning of spring.

I'm heading offline, but want to wish everyone a happy Imbolc, the beginning of spring in the Celtic calendar. This beautiful Imbolc painting is by my dear friend and neighbor Marja Lee Kruyt.
