The cavalry drive the Imperials from the field as the infantry dispatch anyone who remains. Eventually the Lead force is all but gone. But before they get the chance of any respite, the fire on the path burns out. The remaining Imperials force their way through and begin to fire
The Imperials engage the trenches with skirmishers and they exchange sporadic rifle and archer fire. Seeing how ineffective rifle fire is at entrenched samurai, they bring up their artillery to blast them out.
This set my brain off on a tangent and I wasted a bunch of time on it.

graham is my little meowmeow. he was just a little farmer & after his sister was conscripted by imperials he was hellbent on getting her back. he wound up liking fighting and maiming and killing a lot & was so caught up in it he accidentally killed his sister.
Oh yeah, she has a giant back scar. sorry for the virgin killer sweater this is the first pic I could find with her back showing. The lore behind this is that she actually got it when the imperials attacked her home and took her parents

Did some concept sketching for the lower districts of Pearl City.
