for Bulan ding Amanu: my favorite artworks inspired by Kapampangan amlat (legends) of our ancient gods with Kulitan, the traditional Kapampangan script.
@necrodilus This is the mc of my comics, Sol Dalusung, SEAsian (Kapampangan)! An immortal demigod just doing her best trying to be an ordinary archaeologist. She has a tiger guardian friend who disguises as her pet cat
Bayung Danum is the traditional Kapampangan celebration of a new year at the start of planting season. It is believed to commemorate the resurrection of Munag Sumala, the red naga goddess of the Dawn, into the crocodile river god Apung Iru. 1/4 #FolkloreThursday
Sol Dalusung is a mythic fantasy adventure comic about a demigod archaeologist forced to return home where gods and spirits thrive... and an ancient curse stirs. Inspired by the likes of Indiana Jones with a decolonized flavor of Kapampangan folklore and Filipino epics.
we've got ancient Kapampangan gods, a demigod archaeologist, and a world where spirits and ancestors roam and artifacts get cursed, for very good reasons ✨

ÁPUNG IRU 🐊🌊
The precolonial Kapampangan crocodile god who acts as a guardian of rivers. He is also San Pedru, who is celebrated in the Líbad nang Ápung Iru.
Prof. Sol reading #1: Kulitan
I've used the Kulitan script in my Kapampangan mythology art (and signature) and now my comic, but I don't think I ever really gave a basic rundown of it? So here we go :D

In Kapampangan myth, Mariang Sinukuan is the goddess of Mt. Arayat. She settles disputes among mortals, so I made her a deity of justice with a light motif. She has the wings of a moth and glowing eyes because of this!

Batála, Aldó, and Búlan 🌤🌙
In Kapampangan mythology, Batála is the kingfisher god of the sky. When he was swallowed by Dapu, the crocodile earth goddess, his soul burst from her stomach as two birds: Aldó (sun), the red bird, and Búlan (moon), the white bird.
Ápung Sinukuan ☀️
Ápung Sinukuan is the sun god of war who taught people rice culture and metallurgy in pre-colonial Kapampangan religion. His aid, Galura, is an eagle deity who brings storms to the region. #philippinemythology #artph

Tala Banté Lualu // Callsign: PAGASA
Proud of her roots, the words she displays on her suit reads “ali makalinguan” = “Not Forgotten” in the indigenous Kapampangan script!
It’s her homesick memento to get back to her family on her homeworld.
