Why on Izumo? Well, since the name of story is LAFCADIO'S compass, from Lafcadio Hearn, the writer of Kwaidan.

He change his name to Koizumi Yakumo. Yakumo itself is from Yakumotatsu, a poetic modifier word for Izumo Province. Also Izumo is Birth placeof ancient Japan.
