It's a Jojo reference. Avdol got killed by an enemy named Vanilla Ice. The creator loves naming characters and stuff after music refs, though we can't fully keep em in the US version with the way the record industry is(super litigious).

Decided to give drawing another go and tried out a redesign of the Golden Age Daredevil! Aimed for more of a swashbuckler vibe with the new, non-litigious name Captain 'Devil. The half-face bandana mask and arm tattoos were a lot of fun to come up with.
