Seriously, I never thought I’d see a Japanese produced anime by a famous studio (Fairy Tail, Macross, Log Horizon) created & directed by a black American in-house there. Such a fun show w/ dope music & characters

Yeah just look at gundam, macross, space battleship yamato or Legend of the Galactic Heroes. The ship designs of the latter two had some heavy WW2 influences.

Next Mecha Girls of the day are Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee, both hailing from Macross Frontier!

Today is the 40th anniversary of Macross, so expect more dedicated posts about Macross characters throughout the day!

His what now? Didn't know his grandson did the second half which was much more defined tbh. The artstyle of the second half reminds me of Haruhiko Mikimoto's art of La Stella Della Senna.

I never seen this one anywhere else. Dat's some Macross, yo.

This week we look at the Northampton Class Stealth Frigate and the Zentradi variant. One of my all-time favorite spacecraft in Macross, debuting in 1994s Macross Plus and appearing in every sequel since. Art by Kazutaka Miyatake. Colors by me

I know he was just VF-1S Super Valkyrie, kidnapped from Macross, but Jetfire ruled.

I also had a soft spot for Wheeljack and his crazy inventions always going wrong, exploding, doing more damage to The Ark than the Decepticons ever managed.

Le nouvel épisode de Kaorin est disponible ! C'est le 181e et on y évoque en musique les triangles amoureux de la japanimation: Macross, Fruits Basket, Vampire Knight et bien plus encore. L'amour va t-il l'emporter à la fin ?

Cosmo Police Justy (1985)

After lifting nearly every aesthetic they could from Macross, to Star Wars, to Gundam, adding some espers, and half decent animation and rock music you have an OVA that walks a fine line between being trash and super awesome 80s sci-fi action!!! 💗💗💗

Macross Frontier (2008)

A fun modern take on the Macross franchise that has that Macross heart but is entirely original in itself!!! The love triangle was very very well done and I loved the world and technology in it!!! The music, as always for Macross, was great!!! 💗💗💗

Great pick, I like that one too but my favorite is from Macross, I have a thing for reverse jointed (or digitigrade if you are fancy) leg mechas/robots

Another Jenny transformation redraw, her Fighter jet form as seen in "No Harmony with Melody"
Remids me both Real Life F-14 Tomcat and VF-1 Valkyrie from Macross, so i decided to put those details on her.

happy birthday to Sakamoto Maaya on march 31. Literally voiced three of the most iconic women in type-moon (and alexander) on top of being a talented singer who sang for fgo, tsubasa chronicle, macross, etc 🥳🥳🥳♥️♥️♥️ love her so much omg

I'm just a man who loves anything related to sci-fi, particularly franchises like Gundam, Macross, and who of all things imaginable, has a soft spot for a certain pink gerbil.

Super Dimensional Century Orguss / 1983

It ain't Macross, but that's OK. Goofy, sweet and sometimes kinda cool. Nice art, slow and comfy pacing. Dumbass MC, big daft supporting cast. Feels like Gundam 79's earth arc, but as an entire show. Extremely vague finale.

Good stuff.

Xenogears draws a lot from mecha anime—IIRC Takahashi and his son are even SRW fans—with some pretty obvious cues taken from Gundam, Macross, the Yuusha series, etc., and there's cognizant effort put into emphasizing size & scale.
