I knew about Moebius’ cover for Static #45. Never thought there’d be more of them for Milestone. Daft me.
@markbradleyart How interesting. Thanks Mark. Links nicely to Moebius’ work on picturebooks. He calls a similar effect ‘diminishing returns’

I recall Jodorowsky talking on the Dune documentary about Moebius’ super fast ability to draw almost anything in the early/mid 1970s…
‘He was like a machine… bzzzzzzzz…’
If we were going to apply this to a Dune analogy in the age of AI art, then Moebius was an ‘Art Mentat.’
Artwork created by human hands, eyes and a lifetime of experience and skill and not an AI, word prompted algorithm…
The beauty of Moebius’ otherworldly artwork.
Never ceases to transport me into another dimension of hand crafted possibilities and learning.
Jean Giraud, a.k.a., Moebius, double splash page from the story “Harzakc,” Heavy Metal, vol. 1, no. 4 (July 1977), that appeared on the cover of that same issue. It was Moebius’s Arzach stories that inspired the Taarna character and sequence in the Heavy Metal movie (1981).
Overwhelmed by Step By Bloody Step from @sispurrier @matiasbergara & Mattheus Lopes. The artists’ alchemy is reminiscent of all the best qualities found in Moebius’ World of Edena. With its affecting dark tone, Spurrier’s script echoes Henson’s Labyrinth & Dark Crystal imo. 1/
If you’re not in love with #Moebius’s art then, well, you should be. #ComicArt
In 1993 I read Moebius’ Airtight Garbage for the first time when Epic shrunk the pages down to fit the US comic size & released it in 4 parts
I *think*there was new material not in their 1980s version:
Cover, pin up based on that panel (maybe intended as cover?)+ splash page
1/4
I also can’t say I’ve read very many comics (yet), but these are the ones that got me hooked early on
Incal can really be interchangeable with any of moebius’s work and honestly the same goes for Mignola

@KelvinvanHoorn Damn, I’ve been trying to create a similar effect in Unreal and/or Blender for years. I love the art styles of games like Sable & Unexplored 2 & being a fan of Moebius’ artwork. I’d love to just have a solution that “just works” for object outlines, shading & outlined shadows.
