Today, May 12, is the birthday of artist and writer #EdwardLear. It's also #NationalLimerickDay! 'The New Vestments,' is a poem in which a man makes an outfit out of odd things, including cabbage leaves, pancakes, biscuits, and a loaf of bread for a hat! https://t.co/4jzs5vWItk
It's #NationalLimerickDay!
This day is celebrated on the birthday of Edward Lear—born May 12, 1812—who popularized the limerick with his fantastical 1846 book, "Book of Nonsense".
But as a young man, Lear worked for the @britishmuseum, and produced ornithological illustrations!
