Interesting gull at Newlyn today - despite the yellow legs their paleness and the streaked head and pale mantle pushed me towards a “yellow legged” herring gull. Would welcome views!

Stanhope Forbes was born in Belfast in 1847 and died in Newlyn in 1947. 'A Fish Sale on a Cornish Beach' debuted in 1885 and was a huge hit, leading other artists to congregate in Newlyn. Forbes became the leader of the 'Newlyn School' art colony on the coast of Cornwall.
