It's wild to think that this one-note dirtbag surfer pastiche of early 1990s culture would become one of Nintendo's most layered, nuanced, endearing, and enduring characters.

>when a pastiche is more true to the source material than anything the Burroughs Estate has the balls to release

No wonder they tried to shut down this TTRPG with vague legal threats.

I lied! My actual favorite change in the show is Damien Darkblood!
In the comics he's a Rorschach pastiche (as I think the gag is when viewed from behind, he can pass as him), where in the show they lean into the Hellboy/Etrigan angle which is way more fun!

But I mean hey if any networks/studios out there are looking for character-driven irreverent workplace comedies with compelling casts, unproblematic creators AND a premise that pastiches modern society, work-to-live culture and the entertainment/cinema industry… 👀 , sup? https://t.co/qzE6crekps

Fascinating that around the same time, both The Damned and XTC both created 60s alter egos so they could release 60s garage/pop pastiches.

They don't look like dinosaurs. They aren't just big lizards or a pastiche of myriad real life animals (though they do actually draw on them in meaningful ways). They feel like creatures that evolved and exist on their own terms. DRAGONS!

My illustration for this issue of Voima. The theme for the issue is ‘food’, so I couldn’t avoid doing a Goya pastiche.

The Russian Double Headed Eagle, was adopted in the 15th century. The two heads represent the dual sovereignty of the Tsar, both secular and religious.

now the other thing I have been thinking about is that my character Ingrid shares a few similarities with Cara Confused. This is unintentional, possibly a subconcious pastiche, either way, I'm happy to continue the legacy of girls with this kind of wild, frazzled hairstyle https://t.co/QyiDHsNbNz

New blog post! I wrote about Eriko Tamura’s Oz, a Wizard of Oz pastiche for kids with shockingly good photography and some pretty cool CGI design. https://t.co/rWlelgbjeI

...that apocrypha any more momentum than it already has.

But pastiche writers have been fucking up Howard's Conan since the '60s and will very likely keep doing so. How could I possibly make it worse?

At least my shitty fanfic uses Howard’s ACTUAL themes and facts about Conan.
