A closes the Weekend. It is an early Rodenstock Trinar Anastigmat from 1922. Renders an extraordinary Bokeh, shot wide open: sharp Center dreamy anywhere else. stopped down sharpness increases over the whole frame. The Glow stays. Beautiful for Pictorialism.

The extraordinary painterly photographs of Léonard Misonne (1870 - 1943). A pioneer of 'pictorialism' Misonne was originally a mining engineer who was forced to change career to photography due to asthma. He invented many new printing techniques to create his dreamlike images.

Pictorialism was an artistic photography movement of the late 1800s / early 1900s that used photography to evoke mood and theme rather than strictly document reality. Photographers often altered negatives or drew directly on prints to alter the image as needed.
