The most 3D animation can do to be off model is to like change the proportions in weird ways to mimic 2D. Being off model isnt really a concern for 3D. As for mazinger Z Infinity i really liked the movie. The 3D animation was top notch, which is to be expected from mecha 3D

Its an animation term for not matching the show’s style and reference assets. This can either be proportionally, design wise or just drawing in a completely different style
