Pyrrhus of Epirus (319 or 318-272 B.C. )
He was king of the Greek tribe of Molossians, and later king of Epirus . He was one of the strongest opponents of early Rome. Several of his victorious battles caused him heavy losses, from which the term "Pyrrhic victory" was coined
Pyrrhus/Pyrrha. Same qualities as Sar but toned down a notch. As you can imagine, they were quite fiery in more ways than one. https://t.co/gtLRwceRqs
Ferdinand Bol was born June 24 1616. He chose a relatively obscure episode in ancient history when Pyrrhus negotiated with Fabricius after battle of Heraclea in order to paint a really big elephant.
@DucDeVinny I love how you included Pyrrhus’s weird fused teeth 😂

@ElGrecoAnglos @PrismaticWriter @whencyclopedia It's possible the Ptolemies (and some other Macedonians) simply had reddish brown hair, as brown hair was far more common among Greeks, but northern Greeks sometimes did have red hair like nearby Thracians (of ancient Bulgaria). For instance, Pyrrhus of Epirus was a redhead.
In 276 BC the Hellenistic king Pyrrhus famously remarked upon departing Sicily, 'Oh what a wrestling ground we are leaving for the Carthaginians and Romans to fight over.' He was proved right when, 12 years later, the First Punic War erupted
