You know those scenes in movies when a thief drops a small item & it bounces up under a desk or something where they find it later as evidence. I used to think that’s unrealistic. Until I was eating some balls & one just popped out, fell & bounce to land under my desk

on the old series, the art work that looks like mobs in world masterpiece theater or in some 70s mecha anime

the newer line up artwork are even more random, some looks realistic, some western-cartoon-y, and then there's 90s shoujo anime guy roosevelt

my fave thing about old art style (esp. the late 90s to pre-2010s) is that they could make the cutest cartoony moe style and then render them realistically during dramatic scenes
