14/3/1923 -First of five Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve Half Company's is formed in Montreal, PQ. Later renamed HMCS DONNACONA & is still active. This name also given to fictitious RCN corvette in the movie Corvette K225, released in 1943.

26/12/1942 -Battle for Convoy ONS-154 begins. In a 7 day running battle HMCShips ST. LAURENT, BATTLEFORD, CHILLIWACK, NAPANEE, SHEDIAC & KENOGAMI engage 21 UBoats. 14 of 46 merchant ships are lost w/ 551 sailors killed, 1 UBoat sunk. Marc Magee painting.

11/10/1942 -SS Waterton (Bowater, NF) sunk by U-106 in the Cabot Strait. A 117 Sqn RCAF Canso was directly overhead when 2nd torp struck, dousing aircraft in water & debris. HMCS VISON made several unsuccessful attacks on U-boat, then rescued all 27 crew.
