Creo que depende mucho del genero de la obra y que mensaje se quiera transmitir y, por supuesto, el acercamiento del escritor al sexo contrario.

Por ejemplo, Edward Elric es escrito por una mujer, pero él no entraría en el termino de "hombre femenino" porque FMA es un shonen.
