Is there a term (or adjective) for this sort of character voice? I feel like "nasal" or "shrill" doesn't quite capture that "NYEEHHHH" feeling.

The nocturnaphrax would have very complex vocalisations. They would do a lot of shrill screaming, hissing and clicking. They also have a distinctive hollow howl that can be shortened into a roar/bark, as well as near-inaudible whistles and squeaks when using echolocation.
