Kistler K-1, a fully reusable rocket from the 2000s. Beginning development in 1994, she won COTS contracts to resupply the Space Station along with SpaceX's Falcon. Kistler failed to raise enough funds and the contract was terminated in 2007. Development was cancelled afterwards.

SpaceX's thrusters are achieving 1 kW/kg (after inefficiencies).
That is THREE times better than the best electric thruster at NASA; the NEXT-C used in the recent DART mission which achieves 342 W/kg (effective).

Incredibly, this was a real proposal from Martin Marietta for a mission to Mars spacecraft back in the 60s! What do you think, this or SpaceX's Starship?

Mk. 1 kind of looks like a slimmed-down version of Bonestell's "Separation of the Third Stage." He painted it many times. I think Bonestell would be very proud right now! So excited! 👨‍🚀🚀👩‍🚀#spaceart https://t.co/Cf5AeLfHX3
