With her drawings broke the scientific molds of the time. In 1705 she published her masterpiece Metamorphosis insectorum Surinamensium, which greatly impressed who drew on Merian's observations for some of his Systema Naturae texts.

Anansi is an Akan West African folktale, the Akan God of Stories,Wisdom, Knowledge, and possibly creation. He often takes the shape of a spider. Anansi stories spread to West Indies, Suriname, SierraLeone and the Netherlands Antilles; also Curaçao, Aruba, and Bonaire.

No stream today! Today is Keti Koti, this day in 1863 The Netherlands abolished slavery in Suriname. This doesn't get a lot of recognition & isn't a National holiday (yet).
That's why many Dutch folks take July 1st off on their own initiative until we can all officially be free!
