"Thesmophoria", Francis Davis Millet (November 3, 1848 – April 15, 1912), an American academic classical painter, sculptor, and writer.
The Thesmophoria was a three-day festival celebrated by the female cult of Demeter and her daughter Persephone, also known as Kore.
Thesmophoria is the ancient festival of Demeter and Persephone, marking the return of Persephone to the Underworld, and held ag the end of the harvest. Celebrated exclusively by women, the festival was one of the few celebrated by all Greeks. #FolkloreThursday
