Artoria Pendragon

One of the earliest locations associated with Arthur is Tintagel Castle in Cornwall, where Arthur was supposedly conceived between Igraine and Uther (disguised as Igraine’s husband). Today it boasts impressive ruins and a beautiful view of the ocean.

- King Arthur was linked to Tintagel Castle in the 12th century when Geoffrey of Monmouth named it as a place, where Arthur was conceived. Legend says that the infant Arthur was thrown by the waves on the beach by Merlin's cave.

Coming to the last of my paintings from The last two are little ones. Though I’m not really an artist that works small, it’s kind of cool to be able to have such a small that is beginning to fill up with of where I have been.

Where Maclise differs from his contemporaries is his bright colours, his focus on narrative & an interest in Celtic & Gaelic legends. Waterfall at St Nighton’s Kieve, near Tintagel (1842), A Scene from Undine (1843) & Rosalind & Cecilia (1845). These are v Victorian ladies.
