@FatherReading @CAnganuzzi A1-3 In picture books the illustrations add so much to the text in helping us to understand the shoes we’re now in. Facial expressions are key. But composition and tone set the scene. #ukpbchat
@FatherReading A4) #ukpbchat I’ve got two very exciting books with Giles coming up – I’m half way through one set in the forests and mountains of America- all about finding and following your creative urges. I can’t tell you what animal just yet!
@FatherReading @juliangough A4 #ukpbchat
Here's a peek inside of that book too. It's out in August I believe.
A3 and non-fiction from @yuvalzommer @Leisa_Stewart @emilydove @LaytonNeal #ukpbchat
@FatherReading @Fi_BGB A2 pt 8) After thumbnails, I moved to roughs (and fleshed out the drawings a bit). Here are a couple of examples alongside final artwork. My roughs are pretty rough! #ukpbchat
#ukpbchat A2pt2: I’ve got my debut author illustrated picture book - THE VANISHING LAKE publishing with @YeehooPress on the 20th April, and my second one DODOS AREN’T EXTINCT coming in Spring 2022, which I’m super excited about! https://t.co/8BjQqkPZdx
@FatherReading @paddydonnelly Q1 pt8: #ukpbchat
...I must admit at the time I wrote it I didn’t realise there WERE any REAL LIFE damsel dragon slayers, but it turns out there were! (Well, if you happen to believe in dragons that is...)
#ukpbchat A1pt6: ...but all his advice is a little rusty. We eventually went with a younger knight who *thinks* he knows all there is to know about dragons, but really he’s just bought himself an oversized suit of armour, a map and is heading off on his first dragon expedition.
This character is one that T and I owe a lot to! Breaking rules and boundaries!

@emilyanndavison I loved finding the spider and the mouse in the Little Critter books by Mercer Mayer #pbfest #ukpbchat
@emilyanndavison Q2 a:Rosie’s Walk by Pat Hutchins uses wordless spreads brilliantly.Rosie the chicken goes for a walk,a fox is visible to the reader but not to Rosie.The wordless spreads bring comedy to the story, allowing the reader to be ‘in on a joke’ that Rosie is not aware #ukpbchat #pbfest
@emilyanndavison Q1a: One more! I love ‘Same But Different, Too’ by @Karlwheel and @hindleyillos . The words are minimal, and Kate interprets them in such a beautiful and fun way, adding so much to the story! #UKPBChat #PBFest
