Vulkan. I always thought it would make it more interesting if the salamander's gene trait about skin had more range. I like the idea of scaled, charred looking skin, clumping in only some areas of the face like some real world skin conditions.

Found a major black person in 40K lore. His name is John Hen- I mean, Vulkan.

He lead the Salamanders faction of space marines.

He's really really big, in part because he's essentially post-human, as a genetically modified son of the (likely part alien) God-Emperor of humanity.
