This painting shows the area behind Stanley Spencer’s house, Fernlea, in Cookham, Berkshire. Completed after his return from service in WW1, the work is deliberately nostalgic; an elegy of sorts, his brother Sydney was killed in action in September 1918.
'Dazzle Ship on the Clyde.' (1919) Early in WW1, Steven Spurrier was called up for military intelligence then transferred to the Royal Navy as a dazzle officer on the Clyde; he was responsible for camouflaging various ships including HMS Argus, the world’s first aircraft carrier.
These new leaked guardsmen have a bit better proportions than the old one, which is kind of a general trend.

Here's the first draft of Mildew from October last year. The helmet was meant to be more ww1, barely any orange and looks about 5 - 10 years younger. Looking back I'm pretty glad I didn't go with this one but thought it'd be worth posting. Still like the hair though.
