Illustrations from Richard Wagner's The Rhinegold by Arthur Rackham (1910).
Scarlet Twilight was inspired by a lot of old comics, but also some more recent ones that reinterpreted the same material. Matt Wagner's work, his panel layouts and especially the way he's build his backgrounds around cool art deco shapes and patterns was a big influence!

1) DAYCRAWLER - Debuting with the Children of the Atom, coolest new mutant heroes of the Marvel Universe, Jay Thomas can not only teleport, he's resistant to telepathic manipulation.
There's only 2 problems:
One, Kurt Wagner's copyright lawyer.
Two, he's NOT ACTUALLY A MUTANT.
Did you know that Vikings didn't wear helmets with horns?
The famous horned helmet, known to us from various cartoons and films, was actually a creation invented by costume designer Karl Emil Doppler for the staging of Wagner's play "The Ring of the Nibelung" in 1876
Was chatting with a friend over wishing Joe Kubert had done more Sword and Sorcery work other than these couple of Robert E. Howard pieces.
He would've especially nailed Karl Edward Wagner's Kane.
Cover to Grendel vs The Shadow by Matt Wagner. A great comic, if you like both characters, or if you only know The Shadow, a decent introduction into the creator owned work of Matt Wagner's Grendel and Hunter Rose.
Cover art for Volume 3 of the new comic-sized OMNIBUS editions of Matt Wagner's GRENDEL, soon to be a live-action series from Netflix.

Valkyries functioned as guides to the afterlife, leading the souls of fallen warriors either to Odin's Valhalla, or to the peaceful fields of Freya's Fólkvangr.

Loge feigns fear as Alberich turns into a giant snake. Wotan stands in the background; illustration by Arthur Rackham to Richard Wagner's Das Rheingold, 1910
Done with the checking of the animations that were needed on Wagner's routes. I also found a few issues that annoyed me but they are all fixed. Today I'll start writing his next eight routes, with luck I'll be finished by next Monday.
The Masked Character of the Day is...
Grendel aka Hunter Rose from Matt Wagner's Grendel!
I'm a total dork and made myself as a Genshin OC. It was nice to try drawing again, actually!
She's an electro claymore user (I want her to use a hammer but w/e) from Mondstadt, and she's Wagner's blacksmithing mentor.
" Hëy bäbe, want a meäd?"
Some of Professor Karl Emil Doepler's costume designs for Wagner's hit show 'Der ring des Nibelungen'.
One of the main reasons people for decades thought Vikings wore horns... thanks Karl, thanks a lot.
