It’s #WorldWildlifeDay. Wildlife is one of my favourite subjects, so here’s a thread of some of my work. Not all of it is conventionally realistic - this jade rabbit was inspired by the critically endangered riverine rabbit, endemic to the semi-desert regions of South Africa.
It’s #WorldWildlifeDay. As declared by the UN, on this day we celebrate & raise awareness to “Sustaining all life on Earth”, encompassing all wild animal & plant species. We mark this day with a painting “Nest” by Katherine Weber featured in AFC’s 2020 Environmental Calendar.
It's #WorldWildlifeDay. Remember that insects & other arthropods are just as important & deserving of our care & attention as are sharks, eagles, giraffes & tortoises.
Here's a rhinocerous beetle (Golofa sp.) Males have horns to shove around other males to compete for females.
We're captivated by the wildlife scenes in "African scenery and animals" (1804-05), featuring hand-colored aquatints after art by Samuel Daniell. So, we're sharing these scenes for #WorldWildlifeDay. Find them in #BHLib via @SILibraries ➡️ https://t.co/OF9RSk2Tks
