Zazel's design may have taken inspiration from Rikuo Nura, from the manga and anime series, "Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan". Both have similar appearances, are based off of the yōkai, Nurarihyon, and are voiced by Takehito Koyasu in the respective Japanese dubs of their anime.
