The Mermaid of Zennor is one of Cornwall's most enduring folktales. Lured to an ancient church by a male chorister's voice, she took him away to live with her beneath the waves. #FairyTaleTuesday #Cornwall #Folklore

The Mermaid of Zennor (1900), by John Reinhard Weguelin
Inspired by medieval legend of a mermaid who lived at Pendour Cove, near Zennor, Cornwall. The young man is Matthew Trewhell, a chorister of St. Senara's church in Zennor, with whose voice the mermaid was besotted.
Way down west in Zennor, handsome young chorister Matthew Trewhell attracted the local mermaid. Eschewing a life of soil, toil and tin, he joined her beneath the waves. Some say they still hear him sing when bathing in nearby Pendour Cove.

By Cornwall folklore, a mermaid used to frequent the village of Zennor, where she was famed for her singing. Everyone assumed she was just a human woman, until one day sailors accidentally hit her underwater house with an anchor and she surfaced to ask them to move.#Folklore
A far happier tale involves the Mermaid of Zennor in #Cornwall. Dressed as an elegant lady, she visited Zennor church, where she became entranced by chorister Matthew Trewhella's fine singing voice. Revealing her secret, she invited Matthew to join her in a life beneath the waves
In the Cornish tale The Mermaid of Zennor a mysterious lady visits a church where she enchants everyone with her voice. She falls in love with the best singer. They disappear. The lady was a mermaid and it's thought that the couple lived happily ever after.

Been a long ass time since I saw some Dark One art. Remember Animal Mystic?

I am not sure where any of Crabral's paintings were originally published. Actually I don't know a damn thing about the artist.

#azpiri
Funny story: Azpiri is a name I tend to include on random wizard names tables. Or some bastardization of it.

Wayne Reynolds, the Larry Elmore of Pathfinder? Love this piece. His art in general is very cool. Not sure why he got so much hate.
