In particular, the scene showing the evolution of vertebrates is especially well done. The screen transitions smoothly and succinctly illustrate the major evolutionary steps from jawless fish to the ancestors of tetrapods. It’s a great example of animation’s endless potential.
Don Bluth really deserves more recognition and a substantial retrospective of his work. He is one of animation’s greatest artists with an enviable filmography: THE LAND BEFORE TIME, AN AMERICAN TAIL, ANASTASIA, and, of course, TITAN A.E.
