One of my favourite discoveries from my research is 'Coffee Bets'. Born in 1833, Elizabeth Cargill, was a fish wife who lived in Auchmithie.
People from Auchmithie were bound to the Ethie estate. Auchmithie is where Arbroath Smokies originated.

Today we recognize and celebrate the contributions of the Scots and their descendants in Nova Scotia and Canada.

Tartan Day is marked on April 6 as it is the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320, the Scottish declaration of independence.
