I would like to add Hikawa Kyoko, who wrote one of my fave manga ever, From Far Away. It has one of the best female protagonists imo, and the themes and characters of the manga are just so good. She also wrote other shoujo manga gems such as Miriam and Otogi Moyou Ayanishiki.
