If ever a bird invited a free and loose approach to the painting of it, an Arctic tern would surely be a contender. Watercolour study of a bird at the Beadnell colony, from a visit 2 weeks ago. Have a good week all and thank you for any interest and feedback in the artwork 👍

For Dickens, walking appears to have allowed him the time and space to process emotion and think. Claire Tomalin observes that Dickens night walked during his ill-fated attachment to Maria Beadnell, sometimes walking for two hours so that he could pass by her house (p.45).

This painting of Sunrise at Bamburgh glows with the colours of that remembered morning. It was a beautiful, rather magical experience to stand in the dawn light and watch the swirling colours slowly blend and change.

I'm a bit shocked to see how late it is..... I've been painting since 9am. But I've just finished this new painting of Beadnell in Northumberland.

My TIME AND TIDE exhibition here at Crown Studio Gallery Rothbury is now officially over. But as I've been very, productive, new paintings have been hung to replace the ones sold.

Arctic terns by the long nanny, Beadnell, a nationally important colony, along with little terns, a gruelling 6 hrs at the easel, Alas unfinished -such is the lot of a weekend painter ! Just as well as the blood red beaks would smudge. Have a good week all 👍

An August evening in Northumberland- with a glorious sunset and the strange, otherworldly sound of the seals singing.... That's what inspired this print of mine. https://t.co/ORTXR6EWYq
