Bhistis (Water Carriers)

Not many know the story of a Bhistis saving life of Humayun from drowning into the Ganga during the battle of Chausa, when he was running away to save himself from Sher Shah Suri in 1539.

many of such jobs are lost in time. Still few left but not much visible. earlier they used to be very much part of our daily life. evenings & mornings used to sprinkle water on both sides of roads. later provided water for drinking at road-markets-bus stops-railwaystation
